Journalists from Basra バスラからのジャーナリスト

Today, we had surprising guests from Basra, Iraq! Five journalists and two translaters dropped by our Bute building after they visited the BBC Wales. We, MAIJ students, were able to hear a sort of true stories from people inside Iraq, which is said to be about to enter a civil war. The situation, however, seems quite different from what the media covers. All of the journalists disagreed with their having a civil war. One of them said, "Although it is true that some of Iraqi people help them bomb mosques and buildings, most attatckers are coming from abroad."

Asked are there any movement from inside Iraq, aiming at stopping those blasts including suicide bombings, Mr Al-Mansouri told me: "Those issues depend on the US."

Last but not least, he told me that Japanese troops are doing really well in Samawa. Well done, Self-defense forces! I personally disagree with sending troops to Iraq, but it's great to hear such a compliment from people suffering from a chaotic world where they can do nothing but live with fear in uncertainty.
